LG Electronics will repeat the development of its latest premium smartphone, G7, from scratch again. This is reported in accordance with the wishes of Vice Chairman and CEO of LG Electronics, Jo Seong-jin.

Reported by The Investor, Jo ordered LG mobile division to repeat the development of G7 (temporary name) from the beginning again. This move is likely to make LG's latest flagship smartphone will be delayed launch.

According to a source whose identity was kept secret, due to Jo's request, the smartphone team was asked to stop the work being done. In addition, they were asked to review the latest product from scratch again.

"After the vice chairman made an announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) last week, direct orders were made for the worker level to start from scratch," the source said.

When at CES, Las Vegas, USA, on January 11, 2018, Jo reportedly mentioned about major changes in the company related to the loss of the smartphone division.

LG excels in the luxury home appliances market, but is struggling to compete from competitors in the smartphone market.

"We're going to announce the smartphone when it's supposed to be done, but we will not launch it just because our competitors do it," Jo said.

According to LG's public relations representative, Jo's intent statement at CES is that the company is looking for new marketing strategies related to smartphone launch. However, so far nothing has been set.

LG's new strategy allows companies to not be able to announce flagship smartphones at Mobile World Congress (MWC), as has been the case in recent years.

In contrast, Samsung's flagship smartphone, Galaxy S9, which is believed to be present in the event to be held late next month.

LG's flagship series in the first half of this so-called will experience some changes, including the name.

Jo is considering an old model or using a brand new smartphone for flagship. That means, there is a possibility LG's latest flagship smartphone will not slide with the name G7.

Related to its specifications, the G7 is reported to have a thinner bezel than its predecessor with an aspect ratio of 18: 9. In addition, there will also be dual camera module one of which serves as an iris scanner.

"There is speculation internally that the company has not found a strong selling point for the G7," said a source.
