Asus and Lenovo were ousted from the top five largest mobile phone suppliers in Indonesia in the third quarter of 2017. This was revealed by IDC Indonesia Associate Market Analyst Rizky Febrian via email to CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (29/12).
Asus previously occupied the third position in Q1 with 11 percent. ASUS must be satisfied in the fourth position in Q2 by controlling 7 percent of Indonesia's smartphone distribution. The third quarter, Asus's name even more melesak, did not enter the top five.
The same thing experienced by Lenovo. In the first quarter of 2017, Lenovo still occupies the fifth position with 4 percent market share.
However, in Q2 and Q3 Lenovo name sank no longer perched in the top five smartphone distribution Indonesia. Position even shifted by Xiaomi.
The decline in the distribution of smart phones not only experienced Asus and Lenovo. The decline is also experienced by Samsung, because throughout the three quarters of 2017 the number of distributions smart phone manufacturer from South Korea continues to fall.
Based on IDC records, Samsung's distribution continued to fall from 34 percent in Q1 2017 to 32 percent in Q2 and Q2.
Crawling up
Oppo, Advan, and Xiaomi experienced an increase in smartphone distribution from the first quarter to the third quarter of this year.
Oppo managed to secure its position in second place throughout three quarters in 2017 with a market share of 25 percent. Oppo continues to overshadow Samsung which is five percent adrift in the third quarter.
Oppo's market share grew significantly from 17 percent in Q1 2017, up to 24 percent in Q2, and 25 percent in Q3.
Another growth is shown by Advan. Advan is up from 5 percent in Q1, so 9 percent in Q2, and down slightly at 8 percent in Q3.
The first quarter of the local vendor is in position four. Then he managed to seize the position of three previously occupied by Asus in the second quarter. The third quarter, Advan maintains a position in third place.
Vivo distribution also climbed up in the third quarter of 2017. Vivo's name in the first quarter and two did not enter the radar of five major smart phone suppliers in Indonesia. New in the third quarter 2017 Vivo infiltrate to fourth position with 8 percent market share.
Another growth is felt by Xiaomi. Xiaomi's name did not enter the top five radar in the first quarter of 2017. Xiaomi just entered the top five in the second quarter by securing three percent market share. Rise double in the third quarter with six percent of the market.
